33 Forgotten Names Called In The First Five Rounds Of The MLB Draft

The Major League Baseball draft is a long and exhausting event that last a total of 40 rounds with hundreds of names called during that time. For a majority of the draftees, it is cool to hear their names called, but they do not give too much consideration to actually signing with that team.

That changes when a player is selected in the first five rounds of the draft. If a player still has eligibility left, he is almost always giving it up to follow his dream at the next level. Others are seniors with their last chance to earn a high draft grade and earn an impressive signing bonus.

In total, 33 players from the Forgotten teams of DI college baseball heard their names called in the opening five rounds. Including the compensation round, five players were chosen in the opening round, with another three in the second round. There were surprises (William & Mary) and lots of representation from throughout the Forgotten conferences with the Big West (7 selections) and American (6 selections) leading the way.
