THE PEPPERDINE WAVES ARE YOUR 2020-21 CBI CHAMPIONS
FINAL
Pepperdine 84
Coastal Carolina 61β Alex Funderburke (@AlexFunderburke) March 25, 2021
Two teams won the right to play a third game in three days on Wednesday night, and Pepperdine took full advantage of the opportunity.
The Waves did it on both end of the floor and won in dominant fashion.
Star senior Colbey Ross continued to stuff the stat sheet early on. He finished the first half with 9 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal.
But that’s not the biggest story from the first half of this game. Sun Belt Player of the Year Devante’ Jones, picked up his third foul with 10:02 left in the first half. The score was 16-14 Pepperdine. After that, Pepperdine exploded.
Over the rest of the half, Coastal wouldn’t make another field goal and would only score six points. The Waves, on the other hand, would score 26 points. This is the second straight game with a run of 20+ points.
The score at halftime was 40-22. The lead was going to be too much for the Chants to overcome.
The second half was much of the same, the Waves would score, the Chanticleers would not. Pepperdine would outpace Coastal 44-39 to win the game 84-61.
Over the last 90 minutes of The CBI, the Waves outscored their opponents 125-82 π.

Kessler Edwards would be named MVP for his impressive three days. The junior put up 59 points, 18 rebounds, 9 blocks, and 3 steals over the three days.
It was a fun three days in Daytona, we saw a ton of great games and in the end, the best team won. Over the three days the Waves out scored their opponents 246-198. Another fun, but meaningless tidbit is that each game they increased their score by two points. 80 in the first game, 82 in the second, 84 in the third.
Coastal Carolina finishes the season 18-8 and Pepperdine finishes 15-12.
