If you follow Forgotten 5 football closely, you’ve known for awhile that “The War on I-4” would be one of the biggest F5 games of the year. Sure it would have been bigger and more important if both teams were still undefeated, but the Bulls can play spoiler to the Knights NY6 Bowl hopes by beating them Friday afternoon.

Charlie Strong and the Bulls are coming off an unimpressive win against a bad Tulsa team. The Golden Hurricane had the ball at the USF 30 yard-line with just over 30 seconds left in the game, down by a touchdown. On fourth down the USF defense came in clutch stopping Tulsa to put the game on ice.

Tulsa’s defense couldn’t stop Flowers and the Bulls in the first quarter, giving up 21 points. After that rough quarter, the Golden Hurricane shut them down. The Bulls couldn’t get anything going against a defense that gives up 37 points and 536 yards each game. That doesn’t set up very well going into a game against a defense who gives up 20 points and 200 fewer yards. The Knights defense also has forced more turnovers than they have given up touchdowns.

The Knights defense is great but Quinton Flowers can cause problems for any defense, he has an uncanny ability to improvise and scramble to make something out of nothing, he doesn’t lead his team in passing and rushing on accident.

UCF has a great QB as well, McKenzie Milton has almost thrown for 3,000 yards this season. Milton has thrown 26 touchdowns and only five interceptions, which is a huge step up from last year when he threw for ten touchdowns and seven interceptions. Milton has been nothing short of incredible this season, his completion percentage is only behind Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield. Why isn’t he at least in the Heisman conversation? Not saying he should win it, but no one is bringing his name up when talking about candidates.

Milton has weapons all around him as well, guys like Tre’Quan Smith, who made this crazy catch last week:

Smith is one of those guys that will catch anything thrown his way and once he catches it, he is fast and shifty enough to get into the endzone no matter where he is on the field.

He also has a speedster in Adrian Killins Jr, who has 629 yards and eight touchdowns. Killins had one of the coolest touchdowns of the season, going 96-yards to the house. He is so fast that he slowed down the last 15-20 yards and was still pulling away from Memphis defenders.

Well, yes. UCF is going to run away with this one. I have felt all season that USF is extremely overrated, I even wrote this after just two games. USF is a good team, don’t get me wrong, I just feel like UCF is in their own league and it will show on Friday.

Milton, Killins, Smith, Anderson, and Akins will be too much for the Bulls defense to handle. Scott Frost has built a monster in just two seasons. This offense is insanely fast, like Oregon from 5-10 years ago fast.

On defense, the Knights have one of the most inspirational players in the country in Shaquem Griffin. Griffin won AAC defensive player of the year last season and he only has one hand. As a kid with a disability as well, Griffin is a huge role model of mine, he doesn’t let his disability define him or stop him from going on the field and dominating.

UCF is rolling and I don’t see anyone stopping them now, in the AAC Championship Game, and maybe even in the NY6 bowl they go to.

The War on I-4 will be all UCF.
